Mekong Delta to Become a Friendly Destination Mekong Delta to Become a Friendly Destination
“Mekong Delta can be seen as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Asia with beautiful natural landscapes, but it may soon lose this advantage due to rapid infrastructure development. And it take years to reinstate those precious values,” said Prof. Ernst Sagemueller, general director of the Europe-Indochina Institute for Tourism, at a recent conference entitled “Potential and Development Opportunity in Mekong Delta” in the city of Can Tho.

In parts of Ha Tay and Ha Nam provinces it is said people have been making combs from buffalo horns for centuries. Judging by their two main maxims, traditionally buffalo-horn craftsmen were pretty unforthcoming to outsiders who were curious about the craft.

Belgium newspaper introduces Vietnam’s tourism potential

21 January 2008

Belgium Victoire magazine, a weekend publication of Le Soir daily newspaper, has given four pages with numerous photos promoting Vietnamese tourism.

The article written by Sandra Evrard introduces an overview picture of Vietnam from Capital Hanoi with its old and modern streets to Sa Pa tourist resort in northern Lao Cai province with a beautiful landscape and the peaceful life of ethnic minority groups.

The author also features other tourist destinations in Vietnam such as the Ha Long Bay, Hai Phong port city, the former imperial capital of Hue, Hoi An ancient town, and Ho Chi Minh City which are also the national cultural, economic and trade centres. The author considers Hoi An ancient town as the country’s most charming locality and Ho Chi Minh City as the most dynamic economic and trade centre.

Sandra Evrard concludes that though each place has its own unique attraction and charm, they create a peaceful and beautiful Vietnam in foreign tourists’ eyes.
